*Association of Community Radio Broadcasters of Nepal Elects Executive
Committee *

The Association of Community Radio Broadcasters of Nepal (ACORAB) has
concluded its 6th General Assembly and has elected a new executive
committee. The assembly was held in Butwal on October 21, 2009.

Min Bahadur Shahi, the incumbent President of ACORAB has been reelected to
the position. Shahi is the Chairman of Community Radio Karnali in far
Western Nepal. Lok Prasad Banjara of Radio Gandaki has been elected the
central VP.

Altogether 19 members have been elected to the excom.

[creative-radio] Torture Music -- CIA Playlist

 

Washington, DC, October 22, 2009 - On behalf of a coalition of U.S. and
international musicians, including R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Tom Morello and
Jackson Browne, the National Security Archive today filed a series of FOIA
petitions requesting the full declassification of secret U.S.
documentation on the strategy of using music as an interrogation device at
Guantanamo and other detention centers.

Bands and Recording Artists Named in the Requests

The National Security Archive has requested information held by the U.S.
government about the use of music by the following bands and recording
artists during the detention and interrogation of prisoners at Guantanamo
and other US facilities.
The names come from declassified and published reports on the treatment of
detainees, as well as interviews with former detainees and guards.
